Michael & Rhonda would like to share our birthing experience with you, and it goes like this.
Keep in mind, momma and baby were on full bed rest for 5 weeks (to address pre-term labor & breech presentation), and released from bed rest on Wednesday, September 22nd.
Mom returned to work on Monday, September 27th. All day mom felt some surges, but heck, I'd been feeling them for over 5 weeks now each time I stood up, so no real notice was made. At around 3:00p.m. on the 27th I finished up some work I had wanted to get done for the past 5 weeks, the surges were still there and I said to myself, "hmm...I just wonder..." Continued

On Wednesday, Heather (our Midwife) told us that Mom was a “fingertip” open and 50% thinned, meaning that her body was just starting to get ready to have a baby. She said that it might be a few more weeks, but there was still a chance we could have our baby as early as this weekend. On Thursday evening, Mom and Dad had a nice romantic night practicing our relaxation and massage. On Friday, Mom felt some faint heavy feelings down low in her belly and thought that maybe Aden was moving down to get ready to be born. Friday evening, we went to Shutterfly Kisses Photography to get maternity pictures taken. While taking the pictures, Mom felt that heavy feeling two more times, but only for a second. She wondered if it was practice surges. Continued

At 41 weeks of pregnancy and after 2 weeks of practice labor, our doctor decided to induce because Ben was not tolerating the practice surges well-his heart rate would drop each time which caused concern. We had tried several of the labor inducing techniques at home, but nothing ever materialized into true labor. Our doctor, Wendy Cutler at NAMC was very understanding that we still wanted to go as natural as possible, so she made every effort to start labor without Pitocin... Continued
